The Senior Developer for ThoughtMatrix is responsible for developing solutions, both front-end and back-end, using a myriad of technologies. This individual will take on major product delivery responsibilities within small, highly productive teams, leveraging popular community-building technologies. This position requires a high energy, creative, flexible individual with a proven ability to multi-task, prioritize work, meet deadlines and deliver an exceptionally high quality product. Strong interpersonal skills are a must, as this role will interact directly with clients.

The Senior Developer:

• Develops Web solutions that meet client needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability and time to market
• Designs, implements and maintains features, modules and applications dictated by client requirements
• Coordinates with system architects, QA and product management on feature specification and delivery
• Participates in client meetings and presentations
• Writes design documents for internal review and use by other Development and QA engineers
• Provides accurate estimates of effort required to develop and deploy technical solutions
• Has a strong understanding of the Agile development model and methodologies, as well as test-driven development
• Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Works productively with a wide range of people in a team environment

Preferred technical skills include:

• OOP and best practices
• Multiple Java APIs, their strengths and applications or PHP frameworks, their strengths and applications
• Databases and SQL
• Web services: SOAP, XML, WSDL, and schema/XSD
• Presentation layers: HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, JSF
• Alternative UI platforms (Adobe Air, Flash, Flex) a plus
• Spring and AOP a plus
• Mobile phone development a plus
• Knowledge of other OO languages a plus
• Development experience with Drupal or Joomla a big plus

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field is required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years development experience with Java enterprise frameworks or PHP frameworks
