ThoughtMatrix Leverages Open Source Web Tools to Help Union Leaders Communicate with Their Members
San Francisco – 12.31.1969 – ThoughtMatrix is pleased to work with the IBEW Local 1269, a chapter of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, on their website and branding. The effort developed fresh, youthful branding, a suite of web tools, and social media outlets to allow IBEW to quickly update their members with union information, local representation details and current events.
All the tools used to build the site are either free or highly discounted for not-for-profit entities, including Drupal Web and CMS software, Google Analytics, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Constant Contact Newsletter and Survey services -- ensuring the IBEW team gains the most features and exposure for the least cost. The website, CMS, and supporting tools were implemented with the greatest of ease of use in mind, one-on-one training, and an online reference area, so any of the Union executives can independently update information while visiting local offices.
The new digital communication suite is a great success for IBEW Local 1269. Using the new website and social media outlets, Union leaders communicate time-sensitive updates in a matter of minutes instead of days, quickly collect relevant feedback on pressing issues, and provide a sense of community for their members.

IBEW Local 1269 is the largest Yellow Pages local Union in the United States and Canada.
