Semi.org
Opportunity
The Semiconductor Association (SEMI.org) was looking to migrate more than 25 different web properties from an outdated, legacy CMS in order to improve internal business operations and significantly reduce costs associated with maintaining and hosting the multiple sites.
Solution
SEMI.org engaged ThoughtMatrix to develop the strategy for selecting a CMS platform, implement their web sites on that platform, and determine the best migration path to move their content from the old system to the new one.
ThoughtMatrix worked with the SEMI.org business stakeholders to evaluate their needs and formulate a list of the best content management systems to match their business goals. After developing and evaluating a short list of CMS options, it was decided the best path forward was to employ Drupal, paired with Pressflow and hosted by Acquia. In order to streamline the migration of content for the global SEMI sites, ThoughtMatrix leveraged Kapow Technologies' Katalyst Suite.
Results
The ThoughtMatrix team analyzed the content of the SEMI sites, created a migration plan, implemented the existing website designs in the Drupal CMS, and migrated the content of more than 30,000 pages and associated digital assets. ThoughtMatrix rebuilt the existing site designs in Drupal, taking advantage of the migration timing to make the 25 conference-site designs more consistent by using a smaller set of page templates. ThoughtMatrix also used the tools from Kapow Technologies to migrate the content from the legacy system to the Drupal framework. The entire project was completed on an accelerated timeline to meet a critical business deadline for SEMI.org
