Fidelity — NetBenefits

“The ThoughtMatrix iterative approach worked really well for the necessary tight collaboration between our technical team and the client team on this large scale Tridion implementation.” – Madhu Subramanian, Technical Architect

Opportunity

After an extensive market study, the Fidelity Investments' NetBenefits business group decided to update their CMS implementation to support a better user experience for the retirement portals utilizing their system. One of the primary goals was to develop an information architecture (IA) and taxonomy that could support and scale to over 20,000 white label retirement plan websites. All of these sites needed to leverage common branding elements and layouts. ThoughtMatrix was engaged to develop and implement the IA, BluePrint structure, taxonomy and layouts within SDL Tridion 2011 for the NetBenefits websites.

Solution

By leveraging our agile development methodology, ThoughtMatrix developed the IA as well as the page and component layouts in a systematic manner, continuously integrating them into the core Tridion platform. With tight collaboration with the NetBenefits business and IT teams, the Tridion CMS included many highly customized features to ensure content authors and designers are able to easily update their sites.

Results

ThoughtMatrix delivered an IA that provides significant flexibility and allows the layout templates to be leveraged across several thousands websites under the NetBenefits umbrella. In addition, ThoughtMatrix trained a core group of Fidelity developers and business analysts on the Tridion core functionality, empowering the team with knowledge on the new custom features. The websites are being released to production in a phased approach with the main NetBenefits website and handful of other personalized websites.
